Makenna Green can trace her family farm back to 1902 — but she’s certainly not farming like it’s the early 1900s anymore. She and her family grow corn and soybeans while innovating and strengthening her family legacy.

Passion for her family legacy. ​Armed with her recent agronomy degree, Makenna is ready to fuel her passion during her first full growing season back on the family farm. ​She is eager for ongoing innovation and integrity, values that her family has built their farm upon.

For Makenna, fertility starts in the fall when crops are off the field, but she’s sure to keep a careful eye on soil health all year long.​ Every acre gets a variable rate dry fertilizer application post-harvest, based on nutrient removal calculations and soil test results.

Every member of Heritage Family Farm tries to be progressive-minded and Makenna is no exception. As biologicals continue to be a hot topic in agriculture, she thinks her farm would be remiss if they didn’t trial some. But it doesn’t end at simply trying them.​ Makenna not only wants to try biologicals but gather quality data to be able to examine how they fit into her operation.
