Nominate Your Harvest Hero Now
A small act of kindness can make all the difference. Especially during harvest. To honor those who go above and beyond to ensure a safe and successful harvest season, The Mosaic Company is again hosting our Harvest Heroes contest, along with the MicroEssentials® brand. Individuals involved in the agriculture community are invited to nominate their “Harvest Hero” to acknowledge someone who has helped out in big or small ways.
The contest aims to recognize impactful contributions of members of the agriculture community, both in the ordinary and extraordinary ways. The contest nomination period is open through Nov. 30, 2020. Individuals can nominate their Harvest Hero through a short nomination form on the Mosaic Crop Nutrition Facebook page.
“The Harvest Heroes contest celebrates the community spirit it takes to make harvest happen,” said Mindy Dale, Sr. Brand Manager, The Mosaic Company. “From a small action, like giving a heads-up on elevator wait time to a big one, like raising money through local grain donations for a struggling community member, we want to recognize those who make a positive impact during the harvest season.”
In 2019, ten winners were selected and announced as Harvest Heroes. Meet three of the past winners making meaningful, positive impacts in their community:
- Larry Kummer from Auburn, Ind., organized nine harvests for families facing injury, illness or death before or during harvest. Larry contacted neighbors with combines, grain carts and trucks along with providing his own equipment and time to relieve the families of the stress of harvest during their difficult situations. According to Larry’s nominator, he has a “heart for helping others in times of need.”
- Ben Brockmeyer from Grain Valley, Mo., raised money through local grain donations for a fellow custom harvester/farmer who was diagnosed with brain cancer. Through Ben’s efforts, the farmer received more than 9,000 bushels of corn and 750 bushels of soybeans.
- Kevin Wolf from Franklin Grove, Ill., was nominated by his daughter Megan. She wrote: “My Harvest Hero is my Dad. From a very young age, all I remember is his dedication to our family farm. He works full-time outside the farm and spends every other moment in the field. We go to bed and he is out there, and when we wake up, he is already up and getting it all done. He is the hardest working person I have ever known.”
Six nominees will be recognized with prizes to thank them for their contributions. One Super Harvest Hero will win a grand prize, which includes a YETI® cooler, a DeWalt® jobsite radio with battery charger, plus a selection of items from The Mosaic Company and SharkFarmer. The grand prize winner will also be featured in an upcoming episode of the SharkFarmer podcast. Additionally, five Harvest Heroes will win a YETI cooler and a Mosaic/SharkFarmer prize package. Winners will be selected and notified in December 2020.
