At Mosaic, we’re proud that our products are vigorously tested in various soil conditions, on various crops and around North America by growers and ag retailers every year.
This year, Richardson International, the exclusive retailer of PowerCoat™ in Western Canada, put it to the test to see how it can improve nutrient utilization for greater plant growth and vigor across crops. Their results speak for themselves.
The Richardson team saw strong vegetative and root differences in a variety of PowerCoat-treated crops, including spring wheat (pictured above), lentils, durum, canola and peas.
The trials took place on Richardson’s Bennett Farm in Richardson, Saskatchewan. The farm is in the dark brown soil zone which is characterized by limited moisture, higher heat, more wind and lower organic matter.
One key difference noted in Richardson’s trial was that peas treated with PowerCoat had five nodes compared to three nodes in the control field.
“It’s rewarding to see firsthand how our Mosaic solutions not only meet but exceed client expectations in a variety of key crops, proving that innovation can lead to tangible improvements in nutrient use efficiency and ultimately leading to higher yield,” said Sarah Holick, Canada-based Regional Sales Manager at The Mosaic Company.
South of Saskatchewan, in central Illinois, Evergreen FS, Inc. put BioPath® to the test, exploring how it can help growers maximize their yield potential by increasing nutrient availability, uptake and utilization.
In this trial, a grower applied BioPath in a planter-starter mix in the spring. The soil type in the trial field was a variety of silt loam with most acres being saybrook silt loam, followed by ipava silt loam and catlin silt loam.
Despite growing season moisture challenges, preharvest results from this trial were promising.
Evergreen FS, Inc. reported seeing stronger root systems and a 3.5%-4.9% increase in ear weight in plants treated with BioPath.
“I appreciate retailers like Evergreen FS who are committed to doing trials and exploring the results. It’s great to watch a growing season unfold knowing you're going to learn something every step of the way. I encourage retailers, and even farmers like me, to take the first step in exploring their own trials for next season,” said Michael Edens, Territory Sales Representative for Mosaic Biosciences.
